StrangeMUD Conventions
Now and then, the players of StrangeMUD decide that it's
time to descend upon an unsuspecting city and trip the
light fantastic for a weekend or so. It's happened three times to
date, and each gathering grows more organized and much more fun.
These are the cities we have destroyed so far, and we took
pictures, too!
COLUMBUS
Columbus was really fun and really cold. There was some crashing of
dorm rooms (you'd be surprised how many people you can squeeze
into one at Ohio Wesleyan University). Some people felt the
need to sleep in hotel room closets (don't ask) or bathtubs
(ditto). Almost everyone was old enough to drink. Did we
mention it was really cold?
NYC
New York was, well, New York. Take that how you like. It was only
kind of cold, but it was very hectic, with people arriving by
plane and train, all at the same time in very
different locations (and only one person with an automobile).
Tattoos were considered and many drinks were consumed.
AUSTIN
Austin was, by far, the most fun gathering we've had yet. It had
special meaning for everyone since it was a return to the original,
and current, home of StrangeMUD. There was lots of good ol' Texas
cookin', including Mexican food and barbecue, among other things. We
had a sizable turnout, and boy, was it hot... but we didn't
care!
