Trine's Tale
Ok, so now you have heard from Caila, Questor and Trillian. My turn ;)
I too began mudding when I was in college. I tried several muds out until
I came across a place called Fuskermud around 1992 or 1993, I forget
which.
After playing there for some time I worked my way up to immhood.
Eventually Questor and Trea came along and I became friends with both
(though I knew Questor better.) One day Questor came to Fusker and said
hey, Trine, go to this site. I did, and the next thing I knew, I saw all
this spam about advancing levels and I had all these really cool commands
with which to play.
Now of course there was a slight problem, and it was this: I had (and
have) absolutely no idea about coding. So here I was with all these nifty
commands, and I had no idea what to do with them. But then, as people are
wont to do, cheating started, fighting started, and all around griping
started, and since I was the only one at the time willing to deal with it,
the Goddess of Law and Order was born ;).
I actually was quite a low level imm for much of my time at Strange. But
for some reason I really always did seem to operate outside the level
structure. I just sort of quietly, ok not so quietly, wandered around
doing my thing. I was there for all of the changes. I won't repeat them
here because Questor and Caila reported them quite accurately I think.
I argued with Questor, I argued with Caila, actually, I think I argued
with
everyone but Trillian (did we ever argue Trillian?), and sometimes my
advice was taken, and sometimes it wasn't. Regardless of arguing and
occasional Imm purges, of which I never was a victim, I stayed on good
terms with the mud until the great Valen situation. At first, much like
everyone else, we got along ok, but as time passed things changed. Valen
has the dubious honor of being the only person to ever try to punish me
for
cheating (what a laugh.) Finally, after I had entered law school I
decided
I really didn't need to deal with the hassle of the mud as it was under
Valen's control. I would visit on occasion to speak with my friends, but
for all intensive purposes I was gone for about 2 years. Then another Imm
informed me that Valen was gone and Questor was back in control. This
happened to coincide with my graduation from law school, and the rather
stressful period of studying for the bar (from which I definitely needed
relief) so I returned and promptly took up my old duties as enforcer of
rules, mediator, and all around mother to the mortals (chicken soup
anyone?)
Thus is the history of Strangemud from my point of view.
